Ocala National Forest
Take a ride though parts of the second largest nationally protected forests in the Florida has to offer. Established in 1908, the forest covers 607 square miles and is the oldest national forest east of the Mississippi River and the southernmost national forest in the continental US. As you drive through the areas of the forest, try an catch a glimpse of some of Florida wildlife (like deer and black bear). This ride is always fun and shows some of the nature areas Florida has to offer.

Fort Christmas Historical Park
Round-trip, this is about 105 miles in about 2 hours and 50 minutes. Fort Christmas Historical Park includes a replica of a fort built in 1837 during the Second Seminole Indian War; a traditional Florida “Cracker” house and eight pioneer homes; a schoolhouse and lunchroom; a sugar cane mill and other historical farming equipment. The Museum & Pioneer Homes are open Tuesday – Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Kennedy Space Center
About 75 miles away or just over 1.5 hours via secondary roads you will find all things Space Related. Your route will take to through the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge on the way to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex. Enjoy the history of Space with things like the Rocket Garden, Space Shuttle Atlantis, Astronaut Encounter, interactive displays and many more. There is a $57 entry fee ($50 for Seniors). The Visitor Complex opens at 9:00 am daily.

St. Augustine
Round trip is 3 hours and 15 minutes. St. Augustine lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S. and is known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as Atlantic Ocean beaches like sandy St. Augustine Beach and tranquil Crescent Beach. The Castillo de San Marcos is a 17th-century Spanish stone fortress with views of the St. Augustine Inlet. Ryde up A1A along the Atlantic Ocean and into St. Augustine via the Bridge of Lions. Visit the many museums and historical buildings and don’t forget Ponce Deleon’s Fountain of Youth.
